Look! I can build too!

Danny and I wanted some nice, relaxing chairs for our front porch sothis past summer, I saw just the style we wanted at Home Depot. However, it was a do-it-yourself kit. Danny said he had enough to do on the house but I could build them...so I decided I would. And I did!

Here are the pieces.....
Then I had to stain them.....
Then screw all the nuts and bolts together!
Here's Danny testing it out to make sure I put it together right without it falling apart ;)
Times two.... and here's the final product:

The Master Bedroom

A house isn't a home without a bedroom. And two people living in a 9 by 9 non-aircondition back bedroom on a full size bed was not ok with us. So we decided the next room we worked on should be the master bedroom so we could change rooms.

Here's our before pictures of the master bedroom...

Yep, that white wall is unfinished with dry wall.
Bye-bye smelly green carpet, my brother came over to help clean up the old wood floors underneath.
There's my love dry-walling the CEILLING. That was NOT easy, I had to help hold... ha I wasn't much help.
My main job in helping with the house is the painting. So painting I did.
And now the finished product...

Livin On Love

With a kitchen under construction and our pockets empty, our first few meals were something you might see in a college dorm. Our kitchen at the time consisted of this ratty old table Danny found on the side of the road ha, a new sink, a hand-me-down microwave, and my grandma's old electric skillet (that we still hadn't picked up from her yet). -Oh and no fridge for the first couple of weeks.

So our first dinner in our first house was this CHEAP microwave dinner (b/c that's all was could cook with), fresh plums I bought from the side of the road, Gatorade, crackers, and a cheap candle to give the "candle lit" feeling. :)
Danny ate it all happily, telling me that tiny little portion filled him up -what love :).

small bath before & after

The bathroom was one of the first rooms we worked. Gotta have a working restroom, right?! My memory is sadly already starting to fade (that's why I'm starting this blog) but I think we finished most of the bathroom right after our honeymoon. With the help of our two strong, wise dads :), installing a new stink, new shower (now that's a story), electricity, and plumbing that's still now where it should be, we got our guest bathroom where we want it.

Here's what are small bath use to look like...
Doesn't that look inviting?!

And now, here's what it looks like...

 Our Texas themed bathroom. :)

My favorite feature is the TX lisence plates
Danny's proud of his genius idea of having wood trim to give it a more authentic country look.
